an intimate exploration of seven miles on the oregon coast
New episodes released weekly on Fridays, starting 8/29/25
Join Bedrock Theatre in an immersive listening experience that spans the entire Oregon Coast and bridges the gap between art and environmentalism. In each episode, you’ll meet new coastal stewards who volunteer with Oregon Shores’ CoastWatch program and listen in as they teach us about their unique mile, share their stories, and give us guidance and inspiration as we adopt our own mile and become fledgling CoastWatchers.

COASTWATCH & LISTEN EPISODES
behind the science and the storytellers
CoastWatch & Listen is created in partnership with Bedrock Theatre and Oregon Shores Conservation Coalition.
Oregon Shores
Oregon Shores is one of the state's leading voices in coastal conservation and advocacy work. For over 30 years, their CoastWatch community science program has empowered volunteers to adopt their own mile of the Oregon coast.
CoastWatch volunteers visit their mile through the year, observing seasonal changes and submitting reports with their observational findings. As we learned through creating CoastWatch & Listen — anyone can participate in citizen science and the ripples of our individual actions can come together to make collective waves of change.
Bedrock Theatre
Bedrock is a small, nonprofit creative ensemble rooted in Portland, Oregon. We create immersive, site-specific works for natural landscapes that connect audiences to their environment and to each other.
Outdoor exploration is an anchor in our creative process, and we gather inspiration from these adventures into “Seed Packets” that we water and grow until a full production blooms. With CoastWatch & Listen, we took the next step in deepening the impact of our creative practice: connecting with organizations fighting on the frontlines for environmental protections and learning how to incorporate stewardship into our work.
